At Baunova, we are proud to have led the facade rehabilitation of the iconic Meliá Medina Azahara Hotel, located in the heart of Córdoba. This intervention, completed in 2022, was designed to restore, protect, and enhance the building's exterior structures, extending its lifespan and improving its aesthetics while preserving the functionality of this emblematic hotel in the city.
Consolidation of Floor Slab Edges and Auxiliary Structures
One of the primary objectives of our rehabilitation was the consolidation of floor slab edges, an essential part of the facade's stability and safety. Over time, slab edges can suffer damage from constant exposure to weather and natural wear. To address this, we completed a thorough consolidation, reinforcing the structures to ensure the facades can withstand environmental conditions in the long term.
We also paid special attention to the auxiliary structures of the facade carpentry, which are essential for supporting the building’s outer elements and cladding. These structures were rehabilitated and strengthened to provide a stable, durable base, ensuring the security and functionality of the facade’s carpentry elements, which lend character and personality to the hotel’s exterior.
Replacement of Terrace and Facade Finishes
To restore the hotel’s original splendor, we also replaced the finishes on terraces and facades. These finishes, crucial for the aesthetics and protection of the facades, had lost their integrity and appeal over time. Using high-quality materials selected to harmonize with the historic design and surroundings of Córdoba, we achieved a modern, elegant finish that revitalizes the hotel’s appearance.
On the terraces, we applied finishes that are not only visually appealing but also provide high durability and protection from weathering and wear. The result is a renewed facade that preserves the building’s character while adding a fresh touch that integrates with the architectural style of its surroundings.
